29th Trofeo Ciutat de Palma to feature 307 artistic skaters

The 29th Trofeo Ciutat de Palma de Patinaje Artístico will bring together 307 athletes, reaffirming its commitment to solidarity. The event is scheduled for 7 and 8 November at the Pabellón Municipal Joan Seguí, featuring participants from 24 clubs.

The presentation of the competition was held at the Ajuntament de Palma, attended by various officials including David Salom, the director general of Sports; Miguel Ángel Bennàssar, manager of the Municipal Sports Institute; Gregoria Roa, president of the Artistic Skating Committee; and Sebastián Rico, president of the Balearic Skating Federation, along with representatives from participating clubs, athletes, and technical staff.

This year’s trophy will see 307 skaters from 24 clubs across the Balearic Islands, Catalonia, and the Basque Country, solidifying its status as one of the most significant events in the national calendar. For the past three years, the competition has held the designation of National Trophy and is included in the national artistic skating competition calendar.

Notable participants this year include Mateus Vargas Coy, the 2025 European Youth Champion and fourth place finisher at the Junior World Championship held in Paraguay in October; Izadi Ruiz Monge, who won both the Free Skating and Solo Dance categories at the 2026 European Cup in Germany; and José Sampol, the Spanish runner-up and fourth place at the European Youth Championship in Italy.

The competition on Saturday will run from 9 am to 1 pm and 4 pm to 8:15 pm, while Sunday’s events will take place from 9 am to 12 pm. The event will conclude with a closing ceremony, medal presentations, and the traditional parade of participants.

This year’s trophy will also highlight its charitable aspect, as all proceeds from ticket sales will be donated to ASEMA (Senegal Association of Mallorca) and Zaqueo. The judging panel will consist of nine national and international judges from Catalonia and the Valencian Community, along with five regional judges from the Balearic Islands.

The 29th Trofeo Ciutat de Palma began its competitive activities on 16, 17, and 18 October with events for levels 1 to 9 across all categories. This weekend will feature competitions for level 9 in the Elite categories: Solo Dance and Free Skating.
