The Pérez Galdós House-Museum is hosting the thirteenth edition of the International Galdosian Congress from Tuesday until Friday, gathering nearly a hundred participants, including speakers and guests, along with around 72 research proposals. Under the theme 'Galdós, present and future. New challenges of galdosism', the congress aims to create a dialogue space regarding the challenges and future perspectives of studies dedicated to the Gran Canarian writer.
More than 50% of the research presented at this edition is authored by women. Additionally, 29 participants belong to new generations of specialists, who are expected to continue the galdosian studies. The congress seeks to promote new lines of research and facilitate exchanges among specialists from different generations concerning the figure and work of Benito Pérez Galdós.
The President of the Cabildo of Gran Canaria, Antonio Morales, emphasised the significance of this new edition of the event. “It is a new opportunity to discuss Galdós, to continue projecting Galdós, and to value new angles and contributions,” Morales stated. The XIII International Galdosian Congress will continue until Friday, aiming to analyse the current state of galdosian studies and propose new challenges for its future.
