The Tertulia Poética Desván, alongside the Cultural Department of the Torrejón de Ardoz City Council, held the 'Torrejón en verso' event at the Las Fronteras Cultural Centre on 23 and 24 October 2026. The event was attended by the mayor, Alejandro Navarro Prieto.
On the evening of 23 October, the awards for the Fernando Calvo Poetry Award 2026 were presented, with the top prize awarded to M.ª Félix Vázquez Gallego for her poem “Intramuros.” The two runners-up were Isabel García Uría for “Un gato en la memoria” and Manuel José Osorio Gómez for “Informe de daños estructurales.”
The programme over the two days included recitals celebrating prominent literary figures, musical performances, dance, tributes, and discussions, all aimed at bringing poetry to a diverse audience and various artistic disciplines.
The event commenced with heartfelt remarks from Carmen García, president of the Tertulia Poética Desván, in memory of Osvaldo Cipriani, a renowned Argentine photography professor at the Casa de la Cultura who recently passed away. Cipriani was a long-time resident of Parque Cataluña and had numerous exhibitions and published photography books to his name.
