In celebration of Halloween and the eve of All Saints' Day, Talavera's tourism councillor, Gelen Delgado, has announced a new initiative: a free guided night tour called 'The Untold Story of Witches'. This experience aims to uncover the city's historical heritage through the lens of local legends, superstitions, and mysterious tales.
The tour will take place on Friday, 30 October, and Saturday, 31 October, starting at 20:00, with the meeting point located at Plaza de Santiago. Led by official guides from Visitas Talavera, participants will explore some of the most evocative corners of the historic centre, delving into stories of witchcraft, local beliefs, and the oral traditions that are part of Talavera's cultural fabric.
Delgado emphasised the importance of expanding and diversifying Talavera's tourism offerings through initiatives that connect diverse audiences with the city's heritage. She stated, “Recovering and disseminating our traditions, popular tales, and collective memory enriches the experience for visitors and strengthens the bond between the residents of Talavera and their heritage.”
The tour is designed to provide an immersive experience, taking advantage of the night atmosphere and the historical significance of the sites visited, while maintaining historical accuracy in the storytelling. This cultural and participatory activity allows participants to celebrate Halloween by learning about the stories and legends that form part of Talavera's traditional imagery.
Participation in the tour is free, but prior reservation is required by calling 925 82 63 22, available from 10:00 to 14:00, Monday to Sunday. As places are limited, residents and visitors are encouraged to book in advance to enjoy this nocturnal exploration of Talavera's enigmatic history and traditions.
