The mayor, José Ángel Alfonso, emphasised that this second edition marks a significant step towards establishing the Molina de Segura Book Fair as a key event in the cultural calendar.

Molina de Segura to host second book fair from 2 to 8 November

Molina de Segura will celebrate its second Book Fair from 2 to 8 November, featuring a range of activities including conferences, round tables, and presentations of new literary works. The event will take place at the iconic Paseo Rosales, where 15 stalls will be set up.

The majority of activities, aimed at both adults and children, will be held in a newly installed main pavilion at Paseo Rosales, a change from last year's edition. Mayor José Ángel Alfonso, alongside the Councillor for Culture, María Hernández, and the fair's coordinator, Jesús Boluda del Toro, presented the details of the event on Thursday. Alfonso stated, “We want literature to be part of our city's life. We aim to provide our writers with a platform to showcase their talent and offer families cultural experiences, while encouraging children and young people to discover reading as an enjoyable form of entertainment.”

The Book Fair is a strong initiative by the Culture Department to bring books and authors closer to the public. Compared to the first edition, this year's fair will feature an increased number of stalls and a longer duration, reflecting last year's notable public participation.

The fair is organised in collaboration with the Association of Creators and Artists PALIN. It will run from 2 to 8 November, with stalls open from the afternoon of 5 November until the morning of 8 November. Operating hours will be from 11:00 to 14:00 and 17:00 to 21:00.

This year's programme includes prominent national authors such as Carmen Mola, Juanma Gil, Blue Jeans, Miguel Fernández, Alicia Catalán, and Dr. José Manuel Felices. Additionally, several authors from the so-called “Meteorito” group, including Daniel Torregrosa, José Antonio Jiménez-Barbero, and Paco López Mengual, will present their latest works.

The fair will also feature various round tables with notable authors from the Region of Murcia, including Inma Pelegrín, Vega Cerezo, Miguel Ángel Ruiz Parra, Antonio J. Ruiz Munuera, and Alexia Salas.

Designed for all audiences, the fair includes activities for children, which will take place in local schools and the main pavilion, as well as youth-focused conferences. Attendees can also enjoy Ciclopoemas, a poetic installation with live music by El Gabinete Errante, featuring brief performances interspersed throughout the scheduled events.

Numerous authors will be available for book signings at the Municipal Library stall and the Tourism Department stall. Other exhibitors include Librería Cantero, La Fea Burguesía-Tirano Banderas, Alfaqueque-Gollarín, Editorial Pluma Verde, Taller de Prensa, Librería Educania, Editorial La Máquina de Nubes, Librería Action Comics, Editorial J3V, Librería Encuéntame, Grupo Quiero Ese Libro, and Editorial Henko.

The promotional material for this edition features artwork by the renowned Murcian artist El Tipo Raro, who has previously collaborated with various local organisations. The illustration is based on the concept: “Read or be read.”

The Molina de Segura Book Fair reinforces the city’s established literary tradition, which includes initiatives such as the Escritores en su tinta conference series, the Setenil Prize for the Best Short Story Published in Spain, and the Molina de Lectura week.
