In celebration of the 90th anniversary of the social revolution of 1936 and the onset of the Spanish Civil War, the Municipal Archive of Reus will host a series of conferences entitled 'A peu de carrer. Revolució i guerra al 1936'. This initiative aims to engage the public with this pivotal historical period through the personal experiences and daily lives of those who lived through it.
The series is organised by Carrutxa, the Municipal Archive of Reus, and the Baix Camp County Archive, featuring three lectures. The first, titled 'Les dones i la revolució', will be presented by Dolors Marín on 21 October. The second lecture, 'Isidre Fontana, mestre i conseller municipal pel POUM', will be delivered by Salvador Palomar on 28 October. The final talk, 'Els primers mesos de la guerra als pobles del Camp', will be given by Axel Baiget on 4 November. All conferences will take place at the Municipal Archive of Reus at 19:00.
This series offers an intimate perspective on events that profoundly transformed society. Rather than focusing solely on major events and well-known figures, the sessions will highlight the stories of individuals who experienced the revolution and war firsthand. The activity 'A peu de carrer. Revolució i guerra al 1936' is part of the commemorative events marking the 90th anniversary of the 1936 events and aims to promote the dissemination of contemporary history and the preservation of collective memory, encouraging reflection on the impact that the social revolution and the Civil War had on the lives of thousands.
