The Castilla-La Mancha Science and Technology Park (PCTCLM) is participating in Abycine for the first time, sponsoring two initiatives under the Abycine Lanza programme that focus on the changes reshaping the audiovisual industry. The events have examined the role of social media and new audiences in cinema, alongside the potential of artificial intelligence for cinematic creation.
Cinema, social media and new audiences
The first event, titled “Conversations: Javi Ponzo and Ana de Alva at Abycine Lanza. Cinema, new audiences and the future of the industry,” took place on 20 October at the Odeón Cinema in Albacete. Organised by Nuevedocefilms, it featured content creator and film critic Javi Ponzo and director Ana de Alva, moderated by Federico Khaski from the YouTube channel Barro TV. The discussion explored how methods of producing, promoting, and consuming films are evolving, what contemporary audiences seek, and how digital creators, social media, and content platforms are altering the relationship between films and their viewers. According to the organisation's documentation, Javi Ponzo has approximately 1.5 million followers on Instagram.
“The gaze and the machine”: technology serving stories
On 22 October, the Odeón Cinema's room 3 hosted “The gaze and the machine,” a session on artificial intelligence in the filmmaking process, led by Tendencia, a Cinematic Production Laboratory, featuring Pedro Gómez Castillo, José Yulian L.A., and Sonia Bautista-Alarcón. This session examined how filming, archival work, visual effects, and artificial intelligence tools can be combined to enhance narrative resources in cinema. It emphasised the crucial role of human input: while technology can generate new images and processes, it is the perspective, sensitivity, and creative decisions that give meaning to a story.
Innovation and culture: a meeting point
The collaboration between PCTCLM and Abycine 2026 connects cultural activities and audiovisual creation with technological innovation issues, such as the integration of artificial intelligence, the evolution of communication models, and new digital environments. Through this support, the Park aims to create spaces for exchange among audiovisual professionals, creators, and audiences interested in the technological transformation of the sector.
