Santander Port Authority (APS) will start pavement works on the southern road of the Actimarsa industrial estate on 2 November. This road, located on Fragata Street, is one of the main access routes within the Raos industrial area in the municipality of Camargo.

The project, which involves an investment of €643,192 and is expected to take three months to complete, aims to improve circulation and safety on this vital business road, which serves numerous companies and provides the main access to the Marina del Cantábrico sports port.

The president of APS, César Díaz, highlighted the necessity of the works due to the deterioration of the road surface caused by wear and tear over time, particularly from the frequent passage of heavy vehicles typical of industrial areas. “We are constantly working on the improvement and maintenance of our infrastructures, especially those used daily by businesses, workers, and residents,” he stated.

The project will cover a road length of 1,800 metres and a width of 12 metres, resulting in a total pavement area of 21,200 m². The works will be carried out by Servicios y Obras del Norte, S.A. (SENOR), with a contract value of €643,192 and a projected execution period of three months.

The construction will proceed in phases, moving from east to west and using half lanes to maintain traffic flow during the works, thereby minimising disruption to activities in the industrial estate. The first phase will focus on the eastern section, approximately 1,000 metres long, involving the milling of the existing pavement and the laying of a new surface layer. Subsequently, the western section, around 800 metres long and in worse condition, will undergo milling, the installation of an intermediate layer of asphalt, and the application of a new surface layer. Improvements will also be made at the intersections with transverse roads.

The project will conclude with the renewal of horizontal and vertical signage, the installation of raised pedestrian crossings, and various enhancements to service ducts.
