The Ajuntament de Palma will celebrate the Día de las Bibliotecas on Saturday, 24 October, with a variety of activities organised by the municipal library network aimed at promoting reading across all age groups and highlighting the cultural role of these spaces in society.
This year's celebration, which commenced on 19 October, is themed 'Without professionals, there are no libraries', emphasising the importance of library staff. The national event is organised by the Ministry of Culture in collaboration with public and private libraries, including those in Palma.
Activities planned for Saturday
The programme for 24 October features several notable events. A literary vermouth led by Margalida Mateu will take place at the Joan Alcover library, primarily targeting an adult audience. The es Molinar library will serve as the starting point for a family-oriented literary route titled 'Llegim el Molinar en família', conducted by the cultural entity Tres Serveis Culturals.
Additionally, a dramatized reading workshop will be offered by Espill Teatre at the Josep Maria Llompart library, aimed at young people aged 12 to 17. The Encarnació Viñas library in the Pere Garau neighbourhood will host a storytelling session titled 'La nena que odiava els llibres', featuring performances by Pallasso Andreu, designed for children aged three and above. All activities are set to begin at 11:00 AM.
