The La Despernada Cultural Centre recently held a ceremony to present gifts to participants of the ninth edition of the Reading Passport. This year, nearly a hundred children and young people, aged between 6 and 15, took part in the initiative.
The programme aims to promote reading among young people during the summer holidays while also highlighting the collection available at the F. Lázaro Carreter Municipal Library. For this purpose, 400 books were selected based on the participants' ages, featuring high-quality stories from various styles, authors, and themes, moving away from more commercial titles and the latest releases.
Jesús Fernando Agudo Sánchez, the Councillor for Culture, and the director of the F. Lázaro Carreter Municipal Library emphasised the significance of such initiatives in fostering a love for reading among children and young people.
The event concluded with a performance of ‘Reciclart School’ by the Toom Pack company.
