The city council of Guadalajara has announced an allocation of €50,000 for the conservation and enhancement of the city's religious heritage. This initiative, signed by the mayor of Guadalajara, Ana Guarinos, in collaboration with the Diocese of Sigüenza-Guadalajara, aims to support improvements in five local churches.
The agreement, which pertains to the 2026 budget, focuses on the rehabilitation of temples and sites classified as Cultural Assets of Interest (Bienes de Interés Cultural, BIC) that serve the Christian community. The funding will facilitate various projects across five parishes, including:
- The installation of a climate control system at the Church of El Salvador.
- Accessibility improvements at the Church of San Antonio de Padua.
- Exterior renovations at the Church of San José Artesano.
- Restoration of the entrance door at the Church of San Pedro Apóstol.
- Partial roof rehabilitation at the Church of Santa María la Mayor.
This collaboration underscores the city council's commitment to preserving Guadalajara's historical, artistic, and cultural heritage, ensuring the maintenance of buildings that hold significant value for the local community.
