the aim of the exhibition is to promote and highlight the historical evolution of the sergeant's role in spain from the middle ages to the present day. it features explanatory panels and life-sized reproductions of historical uniforms, making the knowledge of military heritage accessible and educational for the general public.
the position of sergeant emerged in the late 15th century within the old guard companies of castile, marking a significant moment in the organization and evolution of the spanish armies. although the role has evolved, the sergeant has consistently maintained essential functions: to lead, instruct, uphold discipline, and serve as a role model for soldiers.

the exhibition includes explanatory panels detailing the history of the sergeant's role in the spanish army, provided by the military patronage 'virgen del puerto' from santoña. it also features full-scale displays of uniforms and weapons on mannequins, complete with descriptive cards. these include reproductions of:

- sergeant of the musketeers of the spínola tercio (17th century)
- sergeant of the cuirassiers (18th century)
