Espacio Joven is hosting the exhibition 'A Million of Us' by artist Candela Gómez until October 30. The show presents a series of charcoal portraits designed as a visual and intimate archive of the influences that have shaped the artist's creative process.
In the exhibition space, faces from music, film, and television coexist with anonymous figures, all placed on the same level regardless of their fame or status. Each piece encourages a reciprocal dialogue: the impact these characters have had on Candela Gómez is expressed through her strokes, light, and shadows. Rather than being a solitary endeavor, the exhibition serves as a community self-portrait, inviting viewers to recognize themselves in these gazes and affirming a central idea: our identity is forged in community, and we are made of others.
Candela Gómez, born in 2005, is a self-taught creator known for her constant experimentation with various artistic techniques. Her career highlights include winning first prize at the 'Lápiz Award' from the Roberto Orallo School of Art and Design in 2020 and being a finalist in 2021. After a break due to academic burnout, she resumes her exhibition activity with this project, which arises from her concern over the overwhelming contemporary audiovisual stimuli and how we consume, filter, and transform these influences into part of our own voice.
The exhibition is free to visit until October 30 at Espacio Joven, located at C/ Cuesta del Hospital, 10. It is open Monday to Friday mornings from 09:00 to 14:00, and Monday to Thursday afternoons from 16:00 to 18:00.
