Cultura presents the book ‘Matices del Pensamiento: Five Essayists for the 21st Century’

On October 10, 2026, the General Directorate of Culture-Príncipe de Viana introduced the publication of the book ‘Matices del Pensamiento: Five Essayists for the 21st Century’ by Daniel Innerarity, Ana Iriarte, Javier Echeverría, Gregorio Luri, and Preslava Boneva.

This inaugural volume is dedicated to essays, a genre where several authors from the Navarre region have notably excelled and have become significant figures both nationally and internationally across various fields of knowledge.

The book aims to serve as a gateway to the works of five prominent Navarrese essayists. They share some commonalities: they belong to the same generation, most of their writings were produced between the late 20th century and the early 21st century, and they are closely linked to the same geographical framework. However, their life trajectories, education, interests, and areas of study differ significantly.

What stands out is not only their connections but also the unique, innovative, and often fascinating perspectives each has developed regarding our understanding of the past (as seen in the works of Ana Iriarte, Ramón Andrés, and Gregorio Luri) or their brilliant analyses of contemporary society and the challenges it faces in an increasingly uncertain future (topics explored by Daniel Innerarity and Javier Echeverría Ezponda).

Contents

  • Essay of an Intellectual Autobiography / Daniel Innerarity
  • Trains of Life (1979-2025) / Ana Iriarte
  • Archaeology of an Essayist / Javier Echeverría
  • A Sports Phenomenon / Gregorio Luri
  • The Music of Thought: An Approach to the Work of Ramón Andrés / Preslava Boneva

The book is available for purchase on the publications website of the Government of Navarra, among other outlets.
