Encuentros cycle returns to La Gota de Leche with Rioja Filarmonía

The city council of Logroño, in collaboration with the Cultural Musical Association Rioja Filarmonía, has announced a new edition of the 'Encuentros' project. This initiative aims to make music more accessible to the public through innovative and participatory perspectives. The cycle, taking place during October and November at La Gota de Leche, is designed to create spaces for dialogue, learning, and shared enjoyment of music, connecting citizens, students, and professionals from various fields.

The programme features a range of formats and content, including meetings with artists and specialists, workshops, instrument exhibitions, and concerts, all aimed at encouraging public participation and enhancing understanding of different musical perspectives.

Three encounters, three perspectives on music

Meeting with Jorge Garrido

The cycle will kick off on Thursday, 16 October, at 19:30, with a public meeting featuring musician, educator, and multi-instrumentalist Jorge Garrido. This session will focus on the hurdy-gurdy and Garrido's unique professional and personal journey. He will share his extensive experience on stage and offer a cross-sectional view of music, contextualising the evolution of the instrument through personal stories and anecdotes, bridging tradition and modernity.

Day with Soinuaren Bidaia

On Friday, 31 October, La Gota de Leche will host a participatory event led by the chamber quintet Soinuaren Bidaia. The day will begin at 10:00 with participant registration and an exhibition of instruments highlighting the secrets of lutherie. At 10:30, specialists will conduct various workshops focused on the violin, viola, cello, and brass instruments. The programme will also include a family-friendly music appreciation workshop, concluding with a concert at 13:00. Prior registration is required via email at riojafilarmonia@gmail.com.

Meeting with Sakira Ventura

The cycle will conclude on Thursday, 27 November, at 19:30, with a session featuring musicologist and educator Sakira Ventura. She will discuss the recovery of the legacy of historically silenced female composers. This dynamic presentation, in dialogue with musicologist Eduardo Chávarri, will utilise visual resources and a selection of audio pieces to explore the contributions of women creators to music history, inviting reflection on cultural justice and the recovery of these figures in collective memory.
