The Culture Councillor of Albacete, Elena Serrallé, has unveiled the autumn programming for the short courses at the Universidad Popular, emphasizing the initiative as part of the City Council's commitment to supporting a culture that is integral to the lives of its citizens.
During the presentation, Serrallé stated that the Universidad Popular has the ability to transform community interests into concrete opportunities for local residents. She noted that the short courses allow individuals to take the first step toward discovering a new skill or rekindling an old hobby.
"The municipal cultural policy should facilitate spaces where people can learn, express themselves, and share knowledge," Serrallé remarked, underscoring the importance of connecting cultural offerings with community needs.
The programming includes 32 courses across various fields such as crafts, visual arts, dance, physical education, flamenco, gastronomy, humanities, computer science, music, nature, and psychology. Registration for these courses will begin on October 19 at 9:00 AM, both in person and online, until all spots are filled.
Serrallé praised the contributions of the Universidad Popular to the community, stating, "There, people learn, share, and build connections," and emphasized the value of the relationship between knowledge and community engagement.
She expressed gratitude to María José Jiménez, the director of the Universidad Popular, and the entire team for their dedication and continuous effort to adapt the programming to the interests of the residents.
The courses will be held at various locations, including the Casa de la Cultura José Saramago and the Centro Sociocultural del Ensanche, as well as other natural spaces in the region. Notable offerings include workshops on traditional crafts, such as glassblowing and natural cosmetics, as well as courses in dance, yoga, and healthy eating.
In addition to artistic and practical skills, the programming also focuses on personal development and community engagement, aiming to enhance the quality of life for participants. The courses are designed to cater to different skill levels, ensuring accessibility for all residents.
For more information about the courses and registration details, residents are encouraged to visit the Universidad Popular's official website or contact their offices directly.
