Cinemón Xic focuses on teamwork and cooperation for its 11th edition

The 11th edition of Cinemón Xic will centre around the themes of teamwork and cooperation. This cultural and educational initiative aims to promote family values through cinema, encouraging respect, coexistence, solidarity, and commitment to human rights.

Running from 6 to 22 November, the film cycle will feature four free sessions at the Orfeó Lleidatà and the Teatro de la Llotja. Jackson Quiñónez, the Councillor for Cooperation, explained that the selected films invite children to explore the importance of collaboration, diversity, and collective action in addressing global challenges, while also fostering a critical perspective on inequalities and injustices.

The programme includes screenings of three animated films: the Chinese film 'Kung Food', the Iranian 'El rey elefante', and the Colombian 'El libro de Lila'. These films will be shown on 7, 14, and 22 November, respectively, at the Teatro de la Llotja.

A notable addition this year is the participatory musical workshop “Todo suena en la selva Amazónica”, led by the Trapero Musical. This activity, designed for children and families, aims to reflect on environmental care through music and sound experimentation. It will be part of the inaugural Mini-Mons session on 6 November at the Espai Orfeó, targeted at children aged four and above.

The Mini-Mons session will feature two short films: 'Harmony' (5:40) and 'El motor y la melodía' (8:18), along with the musical workshop lasting 45 minutes. Through play and experimentation, children and families will have the opportunity to reflect on rights violations and social challenges, with examples linked to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 17, which focuses on global partnerships for sustainable development.

While the sessions are free, prior reservation is required through the Cooperation Department's website, where families can also find supplementary educational materials to delve deeper into the themes and values presented in each screening. Quiñónez emphasised that Cinemón Xic serves as a well-established meeting point for families, where cinema becomes an educational tool to foster dialogue and discover different realities from an open, participatory, and committed perspective.
