Cineclub del Cerbuna returns with 'El extranjero' on 24 and 25 October

The Pedro Cerbuna University Hall is reopening its cineclub this weekend, kicking off its new season with a screening of El extranjero on 24 and 25 October. This event marks the beginning of a series of film screenings scheduled for the coming weekends.

As in previous years, the cineclub will take place in the theatre of the Colegio Mayor Universitario Pedro Cerbuna, located on the San Francisco Campus of the University of Zaragoza. The cineclub aims to provide a cultural offering not only for the university community but also for the wider Zaragoza public interested in discovering new films and enjoying cinema on the big screen.

Since its inception in 1973, the Cerbuna cineclub has focused on enhancing the cinematic landscape of the Aragonese capital by showcasing alternative titles and quality films that often do not make it to mainstream cinema listings. This objective was highlighted during the presentation of last season and remains a core aspect of the project.

Accessible cinema for all

One of the defining features of the Cerbuna cineclub is its commitment to keeping ticket prices affordable. To attend screenings, patrons must obtain a cineclub membership card, priced at €2 and valid for the entire academic year. Each year consists of two seasons: one in autumn and another in spring. Membership can be acquired on screening days at the theatre box office, where tickets are also sold.

The cineclub offers various discounted rates to ensure that different groups can enjoy the programming. Individuals with disabilities and the unemployed can purchase tickets for €2 for all sessions. Additional discounts are available on screening days: senior citizens can access reduced tickets for €2 on Saturdays, while those under 30 can benefit from the same rate on Sundays. Furthermore, children under 12 can attend screenings free of charge.

The screening of El extranjero on 24 and 25 October will mark the start of a new season for the cineclub, continuing a tradition that has lasted over fifty years and reaffirming its commitment to providing an alternative, quality, and economically accessible cinematic offering for Zaragoza.
