Castilla-La Mancha celebrates 150 years of Daimiel municipal music band

The regional government of Castilla-La Mancha has played a key role in the celebration of the 150th anniversary of the Banda Municipal de Música de Daimiel. The event, known as the Extraordinary Meeting of Bands, took place recently and showcased the historical and cultural importance of this long-standing musical group.

Inmaculada Jiménez, the regional delegate for Finance, Public Administration, and Digital Transformation in Ciudad Real province, attended the event, which featured the theme 'One stage. Three stories. One music.' The gathering brought together the Banda Sinfónica Ateneo de Ciudad Real, the Banda Filarmónica Beethoven from Campo de Criptana, and the host, Banda Municipal de Música de Daimiel.

Each band performed three pieces from their repertoire during the event, which celebrated music as a vital cultural expression and a means of connecting generations. Jiménez extended her congratulations to Pedro Sánchez-Valdepeñas Pozo, the director of the Banda Municipal de Música de Daimiel, acknowledging the group's rich history that began on 7 January 1876.

She emphasised the band's role in fostering a love for music and creating a shared space for participation and community over the past century and a half. Furthermore, Jiménez highlighted the importance of recognising and preserving cultural initiatives that form part of the collective memory of local communities and help transmit cultural heritage to future generations.

The event also featured Jorge Román, the president of the Federation of Music Bands of Castilla-La Mancha, marking a celebration that extends beyond music to acknowledge the social and cultural value of bands in the life of local communities.
