arte samba festival 2026 to showcase afro-Brazilian percussion in rute

Rute will once again celebrate the arte samba festival from 23 to 25 October 2026, an event that has become a staple in the provincial calendar. The festival merges local traditions with the vibrant sounds of samba and Brazilian reggae, and is included in the Diputación de Córdoba's Singulares programme.

Gabriel Duque, the provincial delegate for culture, stated that this is an original proposal that not only enriches the leisure agenda of the Subbética region but also serves as a tourist attraction and economic driver for Rute during the autumn season.

Rafael García, the first deputy mayor of Rute, emphasised that for three days, the municipality will transform into a grand sambódromo, hosting a spectacular competition of batucadas, which will bring together percussion groups from various parts of Spain in a lively street contest. He noted that this activity is part of the planned events leading up to the Christmas festivities and is an enticing opportunity for visitors to discover what Rute has to offer.

The festival's lineup includes performances by 'Los Aslandticos', 'Los 300', 'La Mare', and 'Trigo Sucio', among others. Additionally, there will be workshops led by renowned professionals, including an Afro Bloco workshop by Allison Adesida and an Afro Dance workshop by Zoila Martín.

The main stage for live music will be the Teatro Al Aire Libre Alcalde Pedro Flores, where the afternoons and evenings of the weekend will be filled with fusion and mestizaje proposals, featuring percussion bands with wind instruments and DJ sessions aimed at dancing. Concurrently, a craft market will be set up to complement the cultural offerings of the weekend.
