More than 7,000 people participated in activities, workshops, tastings, and cooking demonstrations at the Alicante City Council's stand during the Gastronomic Fair held at the Ferial Institution over four days. The fair concluded on Monday with a very positive assessment from Councillor Lidia López, who emphasized that the programming was an absolute success, marking one of the best editions in terms of promotion, activity, and participation. She stated that expectations were exceeded with record visitor numbers and full attendance at all initiatives, allowing thousands to enjoy four intense days dedicated to showcasing the best of local gastronomy and the excellence and talent of professionals, restaurants, and local products.

The City Council participates in these fairs to enhance its gastronomy, which has become an international reference. Over the four days, attendees were introduced to high-quality products and culinary techniques through cooking demonstrations featuring the best rice recipes, wine tastings, and traditional product tastings such as coca amb tonyina and coca de mollitas. Additionally, there were workshops for children and a comprehensive program with 50 activities organized in collaboration with restaurants and the hospitality sector of Alicante.

“Talking about gastronomy is to speak of our identity, and we are deeply proud of the hospitality sector. I want to highlight the chefs, producers, artisans, and the dedicated professionals whose effort, investment, innovation, and commitment make Alicante one of the best cities in the world for dining, establishing it as a global reference, as we have seen at Alicante Gastronómica,” asserted Councillor Lidia López.

During these four days, attendees had the chance to taste the best patatas bravas from the restaurant Vinos y Mas and the best croquettes from Brasad'or, both selected by popular vote this year. The event featured five cooking demonstrations showcasing various rice dishes, fideuá, gazpacho, and rabbit. There were also masterclasses on chocolates, ice creams, horchata, salted fish, and meats from Mercalicante, along with a variety of activities including Venezuelan international cuisine, vermouth, wines, and cocktails.

The next event is the Gastrónoma Fair in Valencia, scheduled for October 26-28, where the City Council will continue to promote the excellence of its gastronomy alongside local professionals, aiming to showcase their talent and project the city as an international gastronomic destination.
