Vigo government establishes monitoring committee for Balaídos stadium concession

On October 6, 2026, the first meeting of the Monitoring Committee for the Concession of Balaídos Stadium took place. This committee is chaired by the mayor of Vigo, Abel Caballero, alongside Marian Mouriño, the president of Celta de Vigo. The committee will include three representatives from each entity.

Mayor Caballero stated that the new regulatory body will be responsible for ensuring the proper approval of construction works and the appropriate use of the stadium space. This initiative is seen as a significant step for Vigo, fostering a closer relationship between the city and the local football club.

Regarding the current status of the works on the Gol stand, the mayor confirmed that renovations are ongoing and are expected to be completed by January, making the stand available for the Real Club Celta de Vigo.

In September, the administrative concession of public domain over Balaídos Municipal Stadium was approved in favor of the Real Club Celta de Vigo. This concession is set for 50 years, with the possibility of extending it up to a maximum of 75 years, and includes an annual fee of €802,837.93.
