On October 5, 2026, the municipality of Utiel will express its gratitude once again to the personnel of the EMA (Municipal Water Company) and the Fire Prevention, Extinction and Rescue Service for their assistance during the 2024 dana, a term used in Spain to describe severe weather events that can cause flooding and damage.
The free concert will take place this Friday at 8:15 PM at San José Church and will feature performances by the Unión Musical Utielana, comprising 52 musicians, and the Masa Coral de Utiel, which includes 30 members.
Ricardo Gabaldón, the Mayor of Utiel, previously visited Gijón in January 2025 to personally thank the Mayor, Carmen Moriyón, for the efforts of the 41 volunteers from the EMA and the Fire Prevention, Extinction and Rescue Service. He will return to Gijón for the concert to accompany the musical groups and present a token of appreciation from the residents of the La Fuente neighborhood, one of the areas most affected by the dana, where Gijón professionals focused their reconstruction efforts, along with other localities such as Sedaví and Benetúser.
“All the citizens of Utiel are excited about the concert that will be held in the city of Gijón. The Masa Coral Utielana and the Unión Musical Utielana are two magnificent ambassadors of our city, and I am sure that everyone who attends the concert will leave delighted,” said Gabaldón.
“This visit is yet another demonstration of the gratitude of all Utiel residents towards this beloved city of Gijón. We will never forget the invaluable help that the city of Gijón and the municipal water company provided to help us recover and fill our streets with hope,” he concluded.
