The council of Tarazona has completed several improvement works on the roof of the old municipal sports pavilion, investing a total of €56,029.05. According to Pablo Escribano, the council's sports councillor, the primary aim of these works was to enhance the roof's safety and address waterproofing issues, thereby contributing to better preservation of this municipal sports facility.
The intervention was carried out in two phases. Firstly, new anchoring and safety systems were installed to ensure that maintenance work on the roof can be conducted with greater assurance. This includes a 36-metre lifeline, eight anchorage points, and a retractable block, as detailed by Escribano.
The first phase was completed with the waterproofing of the roof surface, focusing particularly on the joints between panels, edges, fixings, and screws, which are especially vulnerable to water ingress. The investment for these works amounted to €45,411.30.
Additionally, specific work was carried out on the skylights of the pavilion, waterproofing their entire surface using specialised products and coatings. This second phase required an investment of €10,617.75.
Escribano concluded, "With these improvements, we continue to maintain and preserve our sports facilities, undertaking interventions that may not always be visible to users but are essential for extending their lifespan, preventing leaks, and ensuring adequate safety and usability conditions." He added that these facilities are used daily by clubs, athletes, schoolchildren, and residents of Tarazona.
