The Son Pardo Hippodrome will host the Gran Premio del Criador 2026 on Monday, October 12, a prominent event in the trotting calendar. The competition, organized by the Institute of Equestrian Sports of Mallorca (IEHM), a body under the Consell de Mallorca, is reserved for four-year-old national horses and will be run over a distance of 2,650 meters with a standing start.
The event was presented on Wednesday at the Binicomprat Restaurant, attended by Pedro Bestard, the second vice president and counselor of Environment, Rural Affairs and Sports of the Consell de Mallorca; Gaspar Oliver, president of the Institute of Equestrian Sports of Mallorca; and Juan Antonio Rosselló Comas, president of the Balearic Federation of Trotting. During the presentation, the trophy and blanket for the Gran Premio del Criador were also unveiled.
Starting Positions
One of the most anticipated moments of the presentation was the selection of starting positions for the Gran Premio del Criador. The 16 participants already qualified for the race on October 12 will occupy the following starting positions:

The Gran Premio del Criador aims to promote the breeding of trotters and strengthen livestock activities related to the equine sector in the Balearic Islands. The event has established itself as one of the key competitions in the annual calendar and a reference point for the trotting sector.
Following the presentation, breeders, horsemen, and representatives from the trotting and equestrian community in Mallorca shared a camaraderie meal at the Binicomprat Restaurant, which also served as a meeting point for the sector ahead of the Gran Premio del Criador on October 12.
