On November 22, 2026, at 19:00, the Paraninfo de la Laboral will host a screening of the film 'Solomamma'. Directed by Janicke Askevold, this Norwegian film tells the story of Edith, a 40-year-old journalist who embarks on the journey of single motherhood through sperm donation.

As Edith faces the challenges of raising a child alone, she finds the experience more daunting than she anticipated. Her fears intensify when she unexpectedly discovers the identity of her sperm donor. Seeking to interview him for her newspaper, she sets off on a quest that will profoundly impact not only her life but also the lives of those around her.

'Solomamma' has received critical acclaim, winning awards for Best Screenplay, Best Actress, and the Critics' Award at the 2026 Barcelona-Sant Jordi International Film Festival, as well as being featured at the 2025 Locarno Festival.

The film runs for 99 minutes and is presented in its original languages: Norwegian, Finnish, and English. It is suitable for audiences aged 16 and over.

Tickets are priced at €4 for general admission and €3 for reduced rates available to members of Club Cultura Asturias, Pasaporte Cultural, Uniovi community, and Carnet Joven Asturias, with the promotion applicable only for tickets purchased at the box office. The screening will also offer auditory accessibility systems upon request.

This event is part of the programming curated by Laboral Cinemateca in collaboration with the Gijón/Xixón International Film Festival (Divertia Gijón S.A.).
