09/10/2026 The City Council of A Coruña will begin preparations for the 'Praza do Nadal' in María Pita next week, with work expected to progress over the following weeks. The aim is to transform one of the city's most iconic spaces into a major gathering point for the Christmas festivities in A Coruña, combining gastronomy, culture, lighting, and activities for the entire family.
During the setup, certain areas of the plaza will be closed to traffic. The plaza will be organized into three large, interconnected zones, designed to facilitate movement and provide diverse experiences for visitors during the holiday season.
The plaza will feature a Santa Claus House and a gastronomic area with five hospitality stalls and a covered seating area. These stalls will offer traditional holiday products such as sweets, savory dishes, and mulled wine, enhancing the leisure offerings during the celebrations.
In the central area, a large Christmas tree will be placed alongside a music stage, which will host part of the cultural programming planned for this period. Additionally, there will be a family-oriented space, featuring a carousel, a polar train, and a 'Christmas garden' with illuminated figures to create a festive atmosphere for children.
The setup will start in the commercial area, beginning at Porta Real with the installation of the hospitality stalls. Mayor Inés Rey emphasized that "we wanted to prioritize the setup of the commercial area so that hospitality providers can have their spaces ready as soon as possible, familiarize themselves with the facilities, and make any necessary adjustments in advance." Once the stalls are in place, work will continue with the installation of the corresponding pergola for this area. These initial activities will take place over the next week, marking the start of a progressive setup process that will unfold over seven weeks.
