The mayor of Albacete, Manuel Serrano, has underscored the affection and respect that the residents of Albacete hold for the Guardia Civil and their patroness, the Virgen del Pilar. This statement was made during a mass held at the city's Cathedral to mark the beginning of the Triduum in honor of 'La Pilarica', officiated by the military chaplain of Albacete, Carlos Manjón, and accompanied by the choir Aires del Guadalquivir.
The mass followed the Solemn Transfer of the Image from the Command Headquarters to the Cathedral, organized by the Military Chaplaincy, where the image was carried on the shoulders of uniformed Guardia Civil personnel and accompanied by a representation from the Band of Cornets and Drums of the Brotherhood of the Prayer in the Garden. This event is part of the activities organized for the Virgen del Pilar festivities.
Accompanied by Colonel Jesús Manuel Rodrigo, head of the Guardia Civil Command in Albacete, Security Councilor Alberto Reina, and Government Team Councilor Pascual Molina, among others, Serrano highlighted the significance of preserving and supporting traditions that are integral to Albacete's identity. This celebration not only combines religious, institutional, and civic elements but also serves as a platform to publicly acknowledge the commitment and work of the Guardia Civil.
At the conclusion of the mass, Manuel Serrano congratulated the newly appointed Damas del Pilar, emphasizing the important role of this figure, created last year to protect and promote devotion to 'La Pilarica' and to assist initiatives aimed at helping those in need. The mayor also extended his congratulations to the General Academy of Air and Space, the Brotherhood of Our Lady of Solitude and Ecce Homo, and the Brotherhood of Our Father Jesus of the Prayer in the Garden for the well-deserved Honor Medals awarded today by the Damas del Pilar.
