Madrid City Council approves construction of new football field in Valdebebas

On October 8, 2026, the Madrid City Council announced the approval for the construction of a new football field in Valdebebas, located in the Hortaleza district. The basic sports facility will be situated at Calle de Félix Candela, 18, with a base budget of €7.4 million.

Construction is expected to begin in mid-2027 and extend until mid-2028. The project includes a full-size artificial grass football field, two smaller 7-a-side fields, a training area, and the necessary facilities for operation, such as changing rooms, stands, and a café.

The development will also involve the complete urbanization of the site, which will include pedestrian and vehicular access routes. The changing rooms and café will be designed as two interconnected volumes with a continuous sloped roof. The changing rooms will be positioned parallel to the west side of the playing field and will have a narrow, elongated shape. Facilities will be centrally located, with changing rooms on either side. Two exits will lead directly onto the playing field.

Additionally, three rows of stands will be integrated behind the changing rooms, facing the football field. The café will include restrooms and a public service area, as well as a general storage room, a separate storage area for sports equipment, a pump room, and a waste storage area for the café.

The site for this basic sports facility spans 13,456 square meters, with 600 square meters allocated for the aforementioned buildings, 7,500 square meters for urbanized space, and the remainder designated for the playing and training fields. Due to the site's complex terrain, which features significant elevation changes, a specific level has been established for the field to minimize excessive slopes and the need for excessive fill material, allowing excavated earth to be reused in other areas.
