On October 2, 2026, the City Council of Lugo announced the introduction of four attended and free restroom modules for the San Froilán festival, a significant upgrade that will provide larger spaces and improved amenities compared to conventional sanitary cabins.
The new modules will feature separate restrooms for men and women, accessible facilities for individuals with disabilities, and, in two of the modules, baby changing stations and bottle warmers. Additionally, these facilities will be maintained by staff responsible for cleaning and disinfecting them during operation.
Details of the restroom modules
One of the modules, designated as type A, will be located on García Portela, near the Ferris wheel. It includes three toilets, two sinks, and a urinal for men; six toilets and two sinks for women; and an accessible toilet with a ramp for individuals with disabilities. This module will also have a baby changing station and a bottle warmer.
Another module will be situated around Plaza Horta do Seminario, measuring approximately 7.5 meters, with three shared sinks, five toilets for women, five for men, and a fully accessible restroom.
The third module, also around 7.5 meters, will initially be placed in the second tier of Costas do Parque, near the Municipal Sports Pavilion. It includes three toilets and two sinks for women, three toilets and two sinks for men, and a fully accessible restroom. This module will be moved on October 12 to the San Fiz area, where it will be operational during the evening festivities.
A fourth specific module will be installed for October 12, featuring three toilets, two sinks, and a urinal for men; five toilets and two sinks for women; along with an accessible restroom equipped with a ramp, baby changing station, and bottle warmer.
Operating hours
The attended modules will operate on varying schedules depending on the festival days. They will be open from 12:00 PM to 1:00 AM on October 4, 9, 10, and 11; from 12:00 PM to 11:00 PM on October 5 and 12; and from 5:00 PM to 11:00 PM on October 6, 7, and 8. The module moving to San Fiz will be operational in the orchestra area from 7:00 PM to midnight on October 12.
Conventional sanitary cabins
In addition to the new modules, 32 conventional sanitary cabins will be distributed across the fairgrounds and various locations hosting concerts and activities during the festival. Eighteen cabins will be placed in the fairgrounds, located at Rodríguez Mourelo, Puro Cora, Rosalía de Castro Park, Vila de Foz, the Pabellón fish market, and Camiño das Costas, with some adapted for individuals with reduced mobility. Fourteen additional cabins will be installed in concert and activity areas, including Plaza Horta do Seminario, the courtyard of the City Hall Administrative Building, Plaza de Santa María, Plaza de Santo Domingo, Plaza de A Soidade, and Luis Peña Novo street.
This year, San Froilán will benefit from a combination of sanitary cabins and enhanced restroom modules, marking the first time this type of service has been introduced at the festival.
