The president of the Community of Madrid, Isabel Díaz Ayuso, recently met with Spotify to discuss the significant role of streaming in the music industry. According to the company’s data, streaming generated €156 million for Spanish artists in 2025, marking a 14% increase from the previous year and more than double the amount from 2021.
The meeting took place at the Real Casa de Correos, the headquarters of the regional government, and included Dustee Jenkins, Spotify's Director of Public Affairs and a member of the executive committee. The company's Spanish subsidiary is based in the capital.
Spotify, which boasts over 300 million paid subscribers worldwide, also hosts key events related to the podcast industry in the Community of Madrid, such as the second edition of the Podcast Live Sessions held in September at the Cines Callao in the city.
Additionally, the Culture Department of the Madrid government has its own profile on Spotify, where it publishes playlists, including those for the Radar Joven 2026 concert series.
