CD Tenerife will make its debut in the Copa del Rey 2026-27 on Wednesday, 28 October, at 19:00 (Canary Islands time; 20:00 on the mainland), facing CD Badajoz at the Nuevo Vivero stadium. This match marks the first round of the tournament, with the blanquiazules (white-blues) up against a team from the Segunda Federación, the fourth tier of Spanish football.
The knockout tie will be decided in a single match, played at the home ground of the lower-division team, in accordance with the regulations set by the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF). If the match ends in a draw after 90 minutes, extra time will consist of two 15-minute halves, and if still level, each team will take five penalties.
Under the management of Álvaro Cervera, Tenerife has struggled in LaLiga Hypermotion, having not won in several matches, with their last victory occurring on 13 September against Leganés. Most recently, they drew 1-1 away at Sabadell, where Óscar Sanz scored for the hosts in the 47th minute, followed by an equaliser from Enric Gallego in the 55th minute. This result leaves Tenerife in the mid-table, far from promotion spots.
CD Badajoz, competing in Group 4 of the Segunda Federación, arrives at this match in good form, remaining unbeaten in their last five games. They secured victories against Marbella and Atlético Sanluqueño, and drew 0-0 on Sunday against Puente Genil. After eight matches, Badajoz sits third in the standings with 15 points, having achieved four wins, three draws, and one loss.
The match between Badajoz and Tenerife will be broadcast live on Televisión Canaria (TDT), Canarias Play, and rtvc.es, starting at 18:55, five minutes before kick-off. Dani Álvarez will provide commentary, with Aarón Darias offering analysis. Additionally, rtvc.es will feature live minute-by-minute updates, including line-ups and statistics.
