On October 5, 2026, the mayor of Vigo, Abel Caballero, took part in the unveiling of the new cultural programming for the Auditorio Mar de Vigo. This season will showcase more than 30 performances from October 2026 to January 2027.
The upcoming program features a diverse range of cultural genres, with music taking center stage. Caballero described the new lineup as part of a "brilliant phase in the cultural sphere" and emphasized the privilege of hosting such high-quality performances.
Joining him at the presentation were Iñaki Teixeira, the manager of the Auditorio Mar de Vigo; tenor Sergio Escobar; and Carmela Silva, the first deputy mayor and councilor for Historical Heritage, Culture, and Equality.
During the event, Escobar praised the "enormous cultural offerings available in Vigo," recalling his debut in the city with the opera Norma in 2012 and his recent performance of Don José and Carmen this summer in Castrelos. He will perform as a tenor in Pagliacci on November 1, accompanied by the Moldavian orchestra, describing it as the epitome of Italian verismo.
