The Day of the Valencian Community extends to Thursday, October 8, featuring a dance workshop in the Town Hall square and a reading of Joanot Martorell's work by local schools and the University.

Alicante, Spain — The Day of the Valencian Community, celebrated on October 9, will include a range of cultural activities starting from Thursday, October 8. The festivities will kick off with a dance workshop in the Town Hall square, running from 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM, which is open to the public and led by members of the Cresol and Postiguet dance groups, accompanied by musicians from the Federació de Folklore d’Alacant.

Additionally, on Thursday, a reading of Tirant Lo Blanch, a seminal work of Valencian chivalric literature by Joanot Martorell, will take place at the Municipal Arts Center. This event will involve participation from the University of Alicante and local educational institutions, occurring from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM.

The main celebrations on Friday, October 9, will begin with a dansà popular, a traditional dance open to the public, performed by the Cresol and Postiguet dance groups, along with the local giants and big heads troupe and musicians from the Federació de Folklore d’Alacant. The procession will start at the Explanada near the Plaza del Mar and continue to La Concha, departing from the Town Hall square at 11:00 AM.

At noon, the festivities will return to the Town Hall square for a commemorative concert conducted by Pedro Lara Navarrete, performed by the Municipal Symphonic Band of Alicante. Admission to the concert is free.
