On October 8, 2026, the city of A Coruña will inaugurate the exhibition "Teño que cantar" at 7:30 PM in the Salvador de Madariaga hall. This exhibition commemorates the 20th anniversary of the Choir Cycle, which has become a focal point of traditional culture in A Coruña during the autumn months.
Throughout its history, the festival has featured renowned choirs from Galicia, prominent folk groups, and significant elements of the country's oral tradition, including regueifeiras (traditional poetic improvisation), folk music groups, and theater troupes.
“In the government of Inés Rey, we are very clear about our task of promoting our identity. We do this with initiatives like this exhibition, which brings closer and celebrates the trajectory of our artistic tradition across all disciplines,” said Gonzalo Castro, the city’s Councillor for Culture and Tourism.
Organized by Cántigas da Terra, the exhibition highlights the development of this emblematic event and its deep connection with the associative and musical fabric of Galicia. It features original pieces and documents preserved in the archives of historical groups that participated over the years, including the Real Coro Toxos e Froles, Coral De Ruada, Cantigas e Agarimos, and the organizing entity itself.
Additionally, the exhibition showcases the legacy and memory of the main traditional music and choral groups from the city that were part of the festival's early editions. Overall, the exhibition serves as a musical and visual memory of Galicia and A Coruña, offering the public an invaluable historical heritage.
